Dear Family,
We are currently working on Unidad III, Etapa 3 of Level I of the ¡En español! Spanish Program. It focuses on authentic culture and real-life communication using Spanish in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Students practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking in Spanish while learning about leisure activities, history, geography, and wild life of Puerto Rico.
By completing activities, students will apply critical thinking skills as they compare the Spanish language and the culture of Puerto Rico with their own community. They will also connect to other academic subjects, using their knowledge of Spanish to access new information. In this Etapa, students are learning to discuss ways to describe the weather, discuss clothing and accessories, describe how they feel and say what is happening. They are also learning about grammar—using weather expressions, using tener expressions, direct object pronouns, and present progressive verb forms.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns you have as your student learns how to read, write, listen, and speak in Spanish.
Sincerely,
Myriam E. Rony
